Originally trained as an Industrial Designer at Grays School of Art, Aberdeen, Scotland, I then spent several years in the computer graphics industry working on web design, multimedia and 3-D computer animation. This led me to my current research area that explores the relevance of creative 3-D computer arts techniques in the field of clinical imaging. I completed my PhD in this area in March 2009 funded by an Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) fellowship.

Currently I am a full-time lecturer based at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design, University of Dundee. I teach across both undergraduate and postgraduate animation programmes.
